ITR deadline for EFPS filers extended to April 17 (Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 32-2008)

EFPS filers are given until April 17, 2008 to file their 2007 income tax returns and pay the tax due, whether manually or through EFPS when this becomes available.

This extension was authorized in Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 32-08 in view of the technical problems being experienced with the BIR's EFPS. Although manual filing and payment were earlier authorized, EFPS filers were not prepared for such a situation and are encountering difficulties having checks or funds approved for manual payment.

In previous situations such as this, the BIR requires that the manually filed return be filed be subsequently electronically when the EFPS becomes available.
