The International Business Report (IBR) is an annual survey conducted by Grant Thornton International. It provides insight into the views and expectations of over 7,200 privately held businesses across 32 economies.
Philippine-specific highlights of the report:
The Philippines emerged as one of the top 5 most optimistic countries, second only to India
The Philippines is the only country in the survey where women enjoy parity to men in senior management roles
Local businesses have done the most to address energy & environmental issues
70% of local businesses expect employment to increase next year
Lack of availability of skilled workforce is the most significant constraint to business expansion
Stress levels in the country have decreased from last year
Proportion of Philippine companies exporting has decreased in the last year, but of those who do export, more are channeling goods to the fast-growing BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) economies
70% of local businesses see globalization as an opportunity, while 18% see it as a threat
